Day 2

It's amazing how one day to the next can be so different. Day two was like floating down a lazy river compared to day one's choppy windy paddle. No matter what, I could not get my energy high. Perhaps I was fighting something off, or possibly it was a hangover from the headache, so I committed to seeing the gift in that. In fact, every time the alarm went off on the hour I asked what gift there was for me in that precise moment. The first time I asked it I heard, "slow down and open", and this seemed to be the general answer or feeling I got most of the day. So despite the fact that there was some part of me desiring my higher energy and enthusiasm, I allowed myself to slip comfortably into the slow but smooth chill vibe of yesterday.

I asked each hour if there was any guidance for me, and I got a few answers like "eat lunch outside", and "finish working, then go to the post office, then go to the store", and once I even got a "good job Luci". I was incredibly focused again yesterday on work and on listening. Later in the afternoon still not feeling great I asked my body what it needed. I was annoyed when I didn't hear any answer back, and forgot about it. About 30 minutes later I had a striking craving for sushi. Or more specifically, raw fish! I didn't think much about it and decided to treat myself to an early dinner and noticed I devoured all the pieces like a starving kitten. It was then I thought - was that the answer? I wanted to know what my body needed and could it have screamed at me, "protein!"?

At one point I was driving and felt the strong urge to get in the left lane, even though I knew I was exiting soon on the right. But I felt this urge, like in my sides, and in the skin on my arms. I noticed it and asked myself, "is that the voice?", and decided, no, it doesn't "speak" like that, it's just me being in a hurry. But the urge didn't go away and so I decided to test this out - and after about 30 seconds staying in the right lane I had to slow waaaay down behind an old car, letting all the cars in the left lane pass me. I ended up having to get in the left lane in order to pass, then made my right turn. Hmmmm...

I realized one thing. I'm scrutinizing, as I tend to do being trained in acute observation, and perhaps there is more to gain from an experiment like this if I am a little less judgmental. Anything that happens I'm asking myself, "is that it? Did I just get a message?" So for day three I am going to operate out of a place of less scrutiny, with the underlying assumption that everything I get is a message. My mind is a busy beast and LOVES to be involved in everything, but today I'm going to flow with perception only, not judgment, and record on the hour how it goes.

LAB Light - Bill Hamilton Surfboards

My travel partner Rochelle and I met Bill in Hanalei Bay, Kauai in January where we had the pleasure of surfing with him. He taught us stand up paddle board and longboard surfing on those gorgeous Hawaii waves. Not only that, he creates surfboard masterpieces, for riding or as art. Known as a true master of his craft, he is commissioned worldwide to create his works of art. Since he ships anywhere, you can guess where my next board is coming from! Pictured is Bill and Sava, his beautiful dog who also surfs!! She had 12.75 beautiful years on this planet and passed away in August. Rest in peace Sava, or I should say surf in peace.
